Today Room 10 had the other lesson today. I lost count of how many lessons we had. Way to many lessons. First, we started of our Foxtrot Dance. It was very simple, easy, and short. The boys had to choose a girl to be partners with.
Secondly, we did our Cha Cha dance. It was very difficult because my brain wouldn't let me remember the moves, and then I got it right. I was partners with Katalina. She was good at dancing. She taught me during the lesson.
Lastly, we did Hip Hop it was very cool that we all know the moves. We ended by bogeying to Gangnam Style. It was very tiring, and cracking. We all felt tired, and went back to class, and wrote a recount about our lesson. Here I am writing them. I can't wait for next week, and I'll come earlier for the lesson.
I am a Year 8 student at Glen Innes School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Room 10 and my teacher is Mrs Raj.

Your Amazing Heart
1. When does your heart beat faster? When you exercise.
2. Apart from exercise, what makes your heart beat faster? When your nervous and scared.
3. Why do you think this happens? When you are nervous or scared, your blood pressure increase to support the main situation.
4. Explain to your partner why your heart is like any other muscle in your body? Our heart is a muscle because it pumps blood 24/7.

Orienteering Recount
Today, Room 10 had their second lesson in Orienteering. We got into it straight away. It was raining, but still we kept on going, I thought to myself to 'Never Give Up'. We were wet, and our backs was very damp. We still had fun. Hopefully, next week is a good day. Thank you Leon and Irene.

Mighty Muscles Reading Activities
Think about three kinds of athletes-Sprinters,weightlifters, and Gymnasts. They all use muscles in different ways. How are they different?
1 A. What do they need their muscles to do?
Sprinters: The calves, hamstring, shin, things is the muscles for the legs. The calves help the legs sprint.
Weightlifters: The biceps, triceps, shoulders, help the arms move. The thighs helps them stand up. It helps pull up the heavy weights.
Gymnasts: The flexibility helps the gymnasts do moves, like flips, doing the splits, and all the different moves. It uses all the muscles of the body.
1 B.Can you think of other sports in which athletes use their muscles in similar ways to these three kinds of athletes?
Shot Put: In Shot Put you use the biceps, triceps, and shoulders to push the shot put far.
High Jump: In high jump, you use the lower body strengths. Using all the muscles in the legs to make you jump high.
Rugby Players: rugby players use every part of their bodies. The arms, legs, shoulders, and brains to plan your next move.
1 C. When do you use muscles in the way they use theirs?
WHENEVER I CAN.
2. NOW THINK OF AN ACTIVITY THAT YOU DO, FOR EXAMPLE, MAKING A HAM AND LETTUCE SANDWICH. MINE ALL THE ACTION (TAKING THE HAM AND LETTUCE OUT OF THE FRIDGE, PICKING UP THE KNIFE, AND SO ON) WHILE YOUR PARTNER WRITES DO THE PARTS OF YOUR BODY AND THE MUSCLES THAT ARE INVOLVED. NOW MANY DOES IT TAKE TO DO THIS SIMPLE TASK?
- ARMS
- THIGHS
- LEGS
- FINGERS
- SHOULDERS
- BICEPS
- TRICEPS
- MOUTH (TO EAT)
3. TOGETHER, READ THROUGH THE CARD AGAIN. TAKE TURNS TO EXPLAIN HOW PAIRS OF MUSCLES WORK. HOW MANY PAIRS OF MUSCLES CAN YOU FIND IN THE BODY-FOR EXAMPLE, THE ONES YOU USE TO OPEN AND CLOSE YOUR MOUTH?
There are 642 muscles in our body, and There are 320 pairs of muscles in the body, including the biceps and triceps.
New Zealand National Anthem
Ihowā Atua,
O ngā iwi mātou rā
Āta whakarangona;
Me aroha noa
Kia hua ko te pai;
Kia tau tō atawhai;
Manaakitia mai
Aotearoa
God of Nations at Thy feet,
In the bonds of love we meet,
Hear our voices, we entreat,
God defend our free land.
Guard Pacific's triple star
From the shafts of strife and war,
Make her praises heard afar,
God defend New Zealand.

House Sports Recount
On Monday 18 November, we had House Sports. It was nerve wrecking for some people. My house group did Discuss with Mr Nath, up on the field. We were versing Kauri 2. We split up into two lines of girls and boys. From year 4 to year 8.
First, the girls threw first. Every throw counts as one point. If it goes out of the cones, they lose a point. Secondly, the boys threw. Every threw was counted, but one went out of the cones.
At the end, they add up all the points. The score was 19-16. Kauri won the discuss. It was a good game, and everyone was happy. Can't wait for the next House Sports.

Orienteering
Today, Room 10 had their first Orienteering lesson with the instructor Leon and Irene. First of all, we learned all the symbols of the map. There were lots, and we had to memorise them. I learned what all the symbols mean. Like: yellow is grass and green is trees. The spaghetti lines mean hills, the closer they are, the steeper it is.
After , we went outside. The class was divided into two group. Each group for each instructor. We played Orienteering, it was fun-tastic. We were not allowed to go back after, we go pass the control. We had to go around again to stamp it in. It was very tiring.
Next week, we are doing a real game of Orienteering going around the whole school. We are going to be in partners, and go find the controls. Next week is to be more tiring than today. Next week, everyone is going to have their game face. Especially, Christian and Tama who wants to compete each other.

Recount:Dance Fever
Today was the most funniest lesson in weeks. We finished our Char Cha dance, and our Hip Hop. When we finished, we had our usual game 'Simon Says'. I was partners with Kato, she is my cousin. She was good, although she had some mistakes, she tried her best. I am looking forward for next week's lesson. Lets see if it's going to be more fun than today's lesson.
