The NZ Giant Weta


Introduction
This report will give you more information about NZ Giant Weta.
The Weta have lived for 190 million years and were around with the dinosaurs.

Physical Features
Male Weta do not have that many spikes on them.They put their back legs up to defend themselves. It has 3 main body parts: the head,the thorax and the abdomen.They also have an exoskeleton.

Diet

The Wetas favourite food is gorse flowers and other invertebrate creatures smaller than itself.

Habitat

Some of the Giant Weta live in the Mahoenui Reserve in Waikato,New Zealand. The reserve is mainly gorse bushes.

Predators

The Weta’s main predator are rats because they are so big and the Weta is small even though they have spikes on their legs.

Main Threats

The weta are threatened by fires that can destroy the bush they live in.

Behaviour

The Giant Weta are very placid (kind and gentle) and the Tree Weta are aggressive.

Conclusion
Wetas are a great insect for New Zealand.They’re like a treasure to us and they are protected from any predators in a Reserve.

Patterns

I am learning my symmetry in Pasifika Patterns.As you can see that the order of rotational symmetry of the pattern is 2 because if you rotate the square it will go to itself 2 times.
