A Soldier...

A soldier...

A soldier fights for his country.
A soldier cares about his team mates.
A soldier fights for his family.
A soldier shoots his enemy.
But some soldiers will be killed in action.

West Coast Flood

Heavy rain hits the West Coast of New Zealand in the South Island.The flood was 6.8 metres high.The floods brought down power lines,made road closed and people were stuck in many areas.The good news is that the rain is starting to disappear from the West Coast and the flood is starting to be shallow.

Do you know what's Orienteering?
Well,Orienteering is a sport.There would be orange marked flags and maps.What you have to do is to solve the fastest way of going to all of the flags so you can be the first to be at the finishing line.If you are in one,I think you are going to do a great job.

Math Magician

Wow! I got 100% on Math Magician.
Let me explain how I work out my problem:

I change everything,for e.g. +9=15 I change the - to + and add the blank number with the nine equals 15 so 6+9=15 and the answer is 6.

Fireworks

Wow!Fireworks are great  to use on Guyfawkes day. We had a great time out there.You just can't imagine what my face looked like when I saw the fireworks explode.
Fireworks are sometimes dangerous. Our fireworks night was great. I felt really delighted. It was one of the best times of my life.

The NZ Giant Weta


Introduction
This report will give you more information about NZ Giant Weta.
The Weta have lived for 190 million years and were around with the dinosaurs.

Physical Features
Male Weta do not have that many spikes on them.They put their back legs up to defend themselves. It has 3 main body parts: the head,the thorax and the abdomen.They also have an exoskeleton.

Diet

The Wetas favourite food is gorse flowers and other invertebrate creatures smaller than itself.

Habitat

Some of the Giant Weta live in the Mahoenui Reserve in Waikato,New Zealand. The reserve is mainly gorse bushes.

Predators

The Weta’s main predator are rats because they are so big and the Weta is small even though they have spikes on their legs.

Main Threats

The weta are threatened by fires that can destroy the bush they live in.

Behaviour

The Giant Weta are very placid (kind and gentle) and the Tree Weta are aggressive.

Conclusion
Wetas are a great insect for New Zealand.They’re like a treasure to us and they are protected from any predators in a Reserve.
